My Work

CAMERA ANIMATION

This was my first animated video made for my Animation class in Multimedia Production at Lethbridge College. My goal was to use camera movements in the video from parallax movements to zooming in and out.

The idea for the animation came into my head the moment it was assigned to me. Most of the ideas I have are very original and partially inspired by other films. The eye of the crocodile, for example, was inspired by a scene in Pinocchio where we see eye movements of Monstro the whale while his body is a still image.

While the majority of the video was made with assets from Adobe Illustrator and put into After Effects, there are some parts I animated frame by frame in the video using Adobe Animate. The small dinosaur and the crocodile’s eye were animated in Adobe Animate, giving it more fluent movement. I’ve also included different layers of the background giving it the parallax camera movement as one of the requirements for the project.

Finally, I exported the final product as an mp4.

This is my first animation I’ve ever made, and it’s always been one of my favorite projects so far.

MIDTERM ANIMATION

This was my second animated video made for my Animation class in Multimedia Production at Lethbridge College. My goal was to apply principles of animation to my animation such as squash and stretch, timing, and arcs.

The idea for the animation was inspired by the scene of a dragon fighting a T-rex in a documentary called “Dragons a Fantasy Made Real” from Animal Planet.

The video was made mostly with assets from Adobe Illustrator and put into After Effects, with only one part (the fire) created from Adobe Animate..

I exported the final product as an mp4 in the end.

This is a good project but not one of my favorites due to the ending being rushed due to limited running time.

CHARACTER ANIMATION

This was my third animated video made for my Animation class in Multimedia Production at Lethbridge College. My goal was to create lip syncing animations and apply it to a character to sync with dialogue.

The idea for the animation comes from a concept for a series I’m planning to create called “Primeval Effect”. The characters shown are an alien alliance known as the Ceptaur Legion, which is the antagonist of the story. The character that speaks is one of it’s generals.

The video was made with assets from Adobe Illustrator and put into After Effects as usual. The voice was done by me, so I apologize if it sounds a little cringy, for I am a better animator than I am a voice actor.

I exported the final product as an mp4 in the end.

While I lack in voice acting skills, I still appreciate the animation and sound effects created here.

FINAL ANIMATION

This was my final animated video made for my Animation class in Multimedia Production at Lethbridge College. My goal was to create an animation that applied everything taught in the course. Principles of animation, camera movements, lip syncing, you name it.

I can’t exactly pinpoint where the idea for this animation came from. My best guess is that it was just a story that popped into my head, with a little inspiration from dialogue from “The Lion King(1994)” (1:04).

The video was made with assets from Adobe Illustrator and put into After Effects. The things I did differently though was apply a shake effect whenever we hear the dinosaur’s colossal footsteps. I also created an Anime character in there, and gave her different expressions to give expression and exaggeration to the character.

As usual, I exported the final product as an mp4.

This is my forth animation I’ve ever made, and has been another one of my favorite projects so far. Because of lip syncing, I have my terrible voice acting skills there but it works better this time for the character I voiced in it.

3D MODELING FINAL PROJECT

This was part of my final project in my 3D modeling course for Multimedia Production at Lethbridge College. We had many options for what we could do for this project, so I chose character animation where I would create and texture a 3D character and animate it for the project.

This was inspired by the Mosasaurus from Jurassic World, but with skin similar to a sea snake and a snake-like tongue, inspired by monitor lizards which Mosasaurs evolved from. Everything from the teeth to the body of the creature was done without an image to reference it. In other words, I created this creature from my mind’s picture.

My main tools were Blender for modeling and animation, and Substance for texturing. Since I made a project like this before, going into this was quite a breeze. I basically extruded edges constantly from one square and manipulated each edge to create the character. Texturing just involved me creating seams on the character to separate areas to texture (ex: skin and mouth). As for animating, I applied and rigged an armature to the model to apply movement animation to the creature. I had to use a weight paint brush to control how much of the armature bone moves that specific part.

I tried to publish the moving model on Sketchfab, but there were some glitches in the model that came with the animations. As a final resort, I exported the model textures to Blender and created a mp4 with a camera, lighting, and the model’s animated movements. This is was my second attempt at making a 3D animated character, but I liked how it turned out in this version.

“LOCKDOWNAN INTERACTIVE GAME

This was part of my final project in my Interactive Project course for Multimedia Production at Lethbridge College. For this project, we had to make a 2D game.

This game was inspired by RPG style horror games like “Mad Father”, “The Witch’s House”, and “Misao”. The characters were created by me with the robot inspired by Jack and Mr. X from the Resident Evil franchise, and the girl with bloody scissors inspired by “Corpse Party”.

My main tools were Unity for coding and putting the game together, and Pexels for creating characters, tilemaps, and sprites for the game. The sound effects are royalty free and were edited and mixed in Adobe Audition.

The game was very hard to make and very time consuming. However, the game stands out as one of my best projects so far. There were many things I had planned for the game, but due to lack support, I could only work with the tools provided. It’s not the best game out there, but it’s surely better than my second attempt at creating a game with Phaser.

I exported the game onto a blog page with the game available to download on it

Feel free to try the game yourself.

PUPPET TOOL TEST

Puppet Tool Test

This was a test with the Puppet Tool from Adobe After Effects, in preparation for an animated project set for release Summer 2021 on my YouTube channel.

The project consists of assets created from Adobe Illustrator, but instead of just rotating parts, I put points on parts such as the tail, neck, and tongue to move them more realistically.

The test was exported as an mp4 and a gif image.

Project updates are on the YouTube channel.
